Ive had a bit of fun with the BBC Electricity Calculator over the past few days. It allows you to adjust sliders in order to calculate the energy mix required to reach the 381 bn kWh demand by 2020. It also calculates what the average electricity bill would be if your desired mix is implemented. There are some interesting results to be had. For example, if adjusting the mix to nuclear only – this would exceed demand but also require the construction of 45 nuclear reactors – no thankyou! Have fun!
After completing the calculator a few times – why not come back and fill in our fun energy poll!
